GiftGen.co.uk, the gift ideas generator website has launched a new version of its site which additionally offers gift ideas for couples. This makes the site much more useful for getting gift ideas for engagement presents, wedding presents, anniversary presents, house warming gifts and the like.

The site suggests a wide range of gift ideas based on the age of person(s) you are buying for and how much you want to spend. Ideas for Couples range from free ideas like ‘Mow their lawn Voucher’, to top end ideas such as ‘A trip on the orient express’ and ethical ideas like ‘sponsor a goat for a 3rd world family’. The search results also show links to shops where you can find your selected gift ideas either on-line or on the high street.

Mike, the co-creator of Giftgen.co.uk said “Following feedback from users via our contact us page, it became apparent that the current site was not particularly well suited for buying wedding or anniversary presents. So we have upgraded the site to include a new ‘couples’ selection. The site has also had a few cosmetic changes to make it cleaner, more consistent, and the character options available are now dependent upon the age of the person you are buying for, as there aren’t that many ‘DIY enthusiast’ 2 year olds out there!”.

Mark, also co-creator adds: “It’s been quite a lot of work, as we had to tag every single gift idea with a ‘couples suitability’ value. With over two thousand gift ideas this took quite a few man hours. We’ve also added social book-marking site links to Delicious, Digg, furl, StumbleUpon and Facebook that appear when you go to bookmark the page.”

The GiftGen interface is very easy to use. Just enter how much you want to spend, select the age of the person you are buying a gift for, their character and gender (now includes ‘couple’). The site will then show the resulting list of gift suggestions in relevance order, with a set of links to web-shops, price compare sites and high street shops that can all be clicked on. You can also refine your search by selecting a specific category of gift (e.g. ‘garden ideas’ or ‘silly / joke ideas’).
