After the success of the www.GiftGen.co.uk full screen and mobile phone versions, comes the PDA version. The same site www.GiftGen.co.uk now detects users who have a PDA size screen, and displays the new PDA version of the site. This version is similar to the mobile phone version, but takes advantage of the larger screen size, which enables it to offer dozens more gift ideas than its Mobile phone counterpart.
GiftGen.co.uk is a free and easy to use gift advice web-site that suggests a wide range of ideas based on the type of person you are buying for and how much you want to spend. The site does not have its own products to promote and is therefore free to suggest an unbiased, full range of gift ideas. The price selection goes from FREE to £600+, so there is something for everybody’s budget. Additionally, GiftGen suggests shops where you could find the suggested gifts.
Mark Rowe, co-creator of Giftgen.co.uk comments “We are continuing on our mission to make gift selection a far less painful process. Finding gift ideas for people can currently involve paging through catalogues, aimlessly wandering around high street shops or wracking your brains for days on end. This service offers you relevant gift ideas to your PDA, on the move, for FREE.”
GiftGen is simple to use. Just select the age of the person you are buying a gift for, how much you want to spend, their character (up to 3 selections from the list) and their gender. The site will then suggest gift ideas in various categories. Choose the ideas that take your fancy and click ‘Suggest Shops’. The site will then suggest which stores to try.
Notes for editors
GiftGen.co.uk is the creation of 2 college friends who are both now in their mid-thirties. It has been 10 months in the making, which has involved much researching of gifts and shops. Priorities in design have been ease of use, relevance of results, and speed of the site. The full screen version went live at the end of Nov 2005, with the mobile version following in late December. All versions are currently FREE to use.
