GiftGen.co.uk answers the question -
‘What gift shall I get them?’

Ever struggled to think of a gift idea? Giftgen.co.uk is a new, easy to use gift advice web-site that suggests a wide range of ideas based on the type of person you are buying for and how much you want to spend. The site does not have its own products to promote and is therefore free to suggest a full range of ideas. The price selection goes from FREE to £600+, so there is something for everybody’s budget. Ideas include baking a cake, buying a piano and sponsoring a goat for a 3rd world family. Additionally, GiftGen suggests where to find your selected gift ideas either on-line or on the high street.

Mark, the co-creator of Giftgen.co.uk comments “Typically, finding gifts for people involves paging through catalogues or aimlessly wandering around high street shops. I also find the internet very frustrating to use when browsing for ideas. Ease of use and relevance of results were therefore our top priorities when developing the site.”

Mike, also co-creator adds: “As well as enabling people to choose gifts they may never have thought of, we intend to help some of our favourite charities by putting people in touch with a variety of charity based gift ideas.”

GiftGen is simple to use. Just select the age of the person you are buying a gift for, how much you want to spend, their character and gender. The site will then suggest ideas by category. Choose the ideas that take your fancy and click either ‘Suggest on-line stores’ or ‘Suggest real stores’. The on-line stores screen displays relevant links that can be clicked.

Notes for editors
Giftgen.co.uk is the creation of 2 college friends who are both now in their mid-thirties. It has been 7 months in the making, which has involved much researching of gifts, web-sites and stores. Priorities in design have been ease of use, relevance of results, and speed of the site.
